Michael Rose’s background as a program executive and a creative has provided him with a wide range of skills and a depth of understanding that spans the television industry. He’s apprenticed as an editor, trained as a director, served as a producer and executive producer, have shot programs and written everything from 30-second spots to scripts for feature-length films. Rose has written books, speeches, op-ed pieces and articles for magazines, newspapers and online outlets. He’s lectured at universities on documentary production and story development, moderated panels at industry seminars, handled domestic and international sales and distribution, overseen rights clearances, casting and major talent negotiations. As a producer he can shepherd a project from inception to completion and through television, DVD and online distribution. He even knows the ins and outs of packaging and shipping, including international shipping, customs and tax issues. And is well versed in copyright law and understand contract negotiations. Rose has a great deal of experience developing projects with public and private cooperation bringing together corporations, government agencies and non-government organizations such as the AMA, the ABA, the AARP and the EPA. Rose studied filmmaking at the UCLA Film school and did Post graduate studies with Uta Hagen and Lloyd Richards. He’s directed Lilly Tomlin, Christine Lahti, Colleen Dewhurst, Alfre Woodard, Edward Herrmann, Kris Kristofferson and other professional actors. During a stint at General Motors he developed the ability to direct non-professionals and get them ready for primetime including corporate executives, union leaders, line workers and non-actors like Chuck Yeager. He currently head his own boutique production company specializing in programming for television. Building on the axiom, “Good Stories, Well Told,” he’s written, directed, produced and consulted on over 200 specials and documentaries on a wide range of subjects.
