Kris Slava is Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, of Ovation. He is a senior cable and digital content executive who joined Ovation as the continuation of a distinguished television programming career with particular focus on arts and art-related programming. Previously, he served as Vice President, Digital Content and Acquisitions, for BRAVO Network where he launched a suite of websites, forged major partnerships, oversaw design, created editorial, and acquired and produced video. He was instrumental in moving the company into new content areas, launching free-standing web businesses and developing web-based content for existing sites. Prior to that Mr. Slava was Vice President of Acquisitions and Program Planning at TRIO Network, where he was part of the core team that launched the network. He helped launch numerous brands, including “OutZone,” “Brilliant But Cancelled,” “9 Sharp” and “UnCensored.” He was instrumental in the acquisition of “Late Night with David Letterman,” “Sessions At West 54th” and more than 1000 hours of concerts, documentaries and films for TRIO. His other experience includes serving as Director, Drama and Performing Arts Programming at A&E Network, where he was responsible for performance and arts programming, live programming, UK mysteries, and selected UK long-form. At A&E he originated and/or executive produced numerous specials including “Live By Request,” live Boston Pops concerts, UK miniseries and domestic theatrical specials including “Peter Pan” starring Cathy Rigby. For his work, Mr. Slava has been honored with 12 Emmy© Award nominations, multiple CableAce Awards, Poe Awards, Banff Rocky Awards, and a Gold Record. He is a founding board member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, East Coast. A graduate of Northwestern University, Mr. Slava is also a produced playwright.
