James Moll’s work as a documentary filmmaker has earned him an Oscar, two Emmys and a Grammy. A protégé of Steven Spielberg, James has directed, produced and edited such films as the sports adventure RUNNING THE SAHARA, executive produced by Matt Damon; and his Oscar winning THE LAST DAYS, executive produced by Spielberg. Most recently, James directed FOO FIGHTERS: BACK AND FORTH, for which he earned his Grammy. His television credits include programing for AMC, HISTORY, VH1, Hallmark and Showtime. James continues to be one of the industry's busiest documentarians, as both a director and producer. His company Allentown Productions has been based at Universal Studios since 1994. In addition to his work as a filmmaker, James established and headed the non-profit Shoah Foundation with Spielberg for the purpose of recording and preserving more than 50,000 ‘visual histories’ of Holocaust survivors. James currently serves as co-chair of the DGA Documentary Award and is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Documentary Branch of the Motion Picture Academy. James earned his degree from the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
